Jacques Lafarge

The opinions of critics who have attended the performances of the plays I have written.

PSYCHANALYRIC

Geneviève Fradique-Gardaz for the Bolero à Versoix (Switzerland)

A singing-piano recital presented by well-known and highly appreciated artists is convincing, but when it is presented like this evening in the form of a “mini-opera-bouffe”, everything changes! Surprise, astonishment follow one another to quickly arrive at charm and seduction. This is what Annick de GROM, soprano and Adalberto RIVA pianist offered with their recital-show “PsychanaLyrique” to the public of Versois at the Sunday Concerts, on October 14th.[…]These two artists […] gave us seduced by the originality of their show knowing how to combine the humor of the text with the musical and theatrical artistic requirements. The pleasure was at its height when we discovered at the end of the show a singer-pianist and a pianist-singer.

To our delight, Annick de Grom does it again, with the complicity of Adalberto Riva. I weigh my words: great happiness. Unspeakable joy to hear him interpret Rachmaninov, Dvorak, Verdi, Puccini, Boito but also Bizet, Mozart, Rossini, Strauss, Lehár… Then RIVA which gratifies us with a virtuoso interpretation of Rigoletto transcribed by Liszt. This recital has a joyful playful dimension thanks to the scenario and the staging of Jacques Lafarge: it is at the same time beautiful, funny and original. Watch the programming of these two accomplices: it is to be seen and listened to without downside!

PLANET FOR SALE

Marie-Laure Atinault, for Webthea
The show is pretty, light as a feather pillow, we laugh a lot on the spot and the next day, the music of “3 Cigales” leads us, we think, smiles on our lips, about this “divine comedy” which does us good .

Alain Solari, for France Catholique
The theme does not lack originality and, if it is neither very Catholic nor very Orthodox, its treatment never sinks into bad taste.

POSITIVE DISCRIMINATION

Interview on France ô

Itʼs not a thesis on positive discrimination, itʼs a comedy about exclusion and prejudice.[…] There is a discrepancy in the language that allows the subject to be treated lightly.

 Jacques Lafarge,

Extract of the interview

Liliane Touraine, for Politiques’Art et Exporevue

The argument is surprising and comical: surprising by this predisposition to an expression by alexandrines and funny by the recourse to the principle of paradoxical contrast since this “Beurette” speaks in a French language so chastised that it is no longer current. Her language is more refined, more culturally “French tradition” than that of the members of the French family (pure wool, Quebecers would say) who receives her. It is a creative argument in its treatment against prejudice, which can be applied to many other situations where an individual is only seen through the collective of the social class or the country from which he comes. In this way, the subject touches on the timeless, the universal.

THE COACH DESPITE HIMSELF

Estelle Bousquet, for Paristribu

The acting is remarkable and the pep that emanates from it makes you want to dance and sing from your seat.

Philippe Bonnet, for Les soirées de Paris

The costumes are extravagant with a touch of zaniness. The gaiety is put from start to finish, infused by talented actors and singers who seem to have fun at least as much as the public…
